Got your tickets yet? If you’re leaving town for Spring Festival, good luck. We’ve seen the queues amassing already outside the ticket booths. Much as we love the idea of heading to the mountains, we’re also tempted to stay put and watch Shanghai turn into Ghost Metropolis.
However, there’s still another week until New Year, and there’s lots to do. On stage there’s a dance show homage to 1930s Shanghai bad girl Zhou Xuan, and some new exhibitions are opening across town. See our stage and art listings for details.
And if you want to know who is winning the rotisserie chicken face-off, read this week’s dining blog.

DINING

  • Open Door: Organic Kitchen

    Open Door: Organic Kitchen

The buzz: Fresh, healthy, organic food delivered to your door. According to their website, they provide an alternative to “pesticide-filled vegetables, beef with growth hormones or chickens raised on anti-biotics”, which has to be a good thing.

  • Open Door: Urban Soup Kitchen

The buzz: Healthy soups and salads, delivered to your door.

The décor: We called for delivery instead of visiting the shop, but we walked past it the other day, and it is a cute, compact, brick-walled, lino-floored, clean-looking little nook. Definitely good for a sit-down lunch if you’re in the Xintiandi area.

NIGHTLIFE

  • Open Bar: Tipsy

    Open Bar: Tipsy
The buzz: It might sound disheartening to many dkd fans, but the basement which used to be Shanghai's paradise for electronic dance music has been turned into Tipsy, a hip hop club.

LIVING

  • Open Store: Meuh!

    Open Store: Meuh!

The goodies we spot at Meuh! are just as adorable as its name. This cute little shop was opened by French designer Helene Meunier at the end of 2009, and her vintage-inspired, bold-colored desigh is so lively and funky that you can hardly get your eyes off them.

  • I Want...Absolut Rock Edition

Absolut Vodka definitely knows how to tickle our heart (and catch our eyes) with its bold and fashionable packaging. Its latest offering is Absolut Rock Edition, whose leather-and-stud design pays tribute to rock music. Smells like teen spirit, anyone?
