Pantomime: Aladdin
Zuloo theater group have pushed back their annual pantomime, so there’s still chance to get tickets. If you’re British, you’ll be familiar with the whole “Oh no he didn’t! Oh yes he did…” spiel. Soul of Shaolin
The monks of the Shaolin temple in Songshan return to the Shanghai stage with their stage show about a boy separated from his mother. The Jin Xing Dance Theatre is rapidly gaining a reputation for staging beautiful, high-caliber dance shows. Made in China looks to continue in this vein with their latest performance. Gold Coast Daily Show
If you’ve got friends or family visiting, and want to show them what your adopted homeland has to offer when it comes to musical theater, take them to Gold Coast. We’re not sure why it’s named after a stretch of Australian beach, but it’s a lot of fun. It’s mostly in Mandarin and Shanghainese, but there are some sections in English. 40-160 RMB. 8:30pm. If you’ve ever wanted to find out about Chinese traditional costumes, this is your chance.
