OPEN STORE: NINOS
Open Store: Ninos
November 24th, 2009
Call Ninos a kids' store if you like, but it comes with a twist. Run by the people behind the popular furniture chain store Casa Pagoda, Ninos boasts a retro cool that appeals to adults as well.
Find yourself in a magical land full of vitage classics once you set foot upon the stripped wooden floor. There are traditional red wagons, sleek petal cars in different colors, lovely rocking ponies and luxurious Madame Alexander dolls on the first floor. Head upstairs and you'll discover a colorful range of backpacks, shoulder bags and satchels for kids from the Australian brand OldSkool, plus a fine selection of Bloom baby products, including the award-winning Fresco Baby Chair (5990rmb).
And of course, let's not forget about the furniture. Sharing the same design team with Casa Pagoda, the wooden furniture at Ninos is cute, solid and most importantly, toxin-free. The vintage style dresser (3900rmb) is set to please your little princess, while the oak round table (2800rmb) is perfect for preschoolers to get creative with their playdough or coloring pages. The furniture in the shop is not for sale though - you have to wait for six to eight weeks for your order, and the delivery is free unless you live in, say, Songjiang or Jiading.
To our joy, there are also quite some goodies that we can put our grown-up hands on. How about a retro Barbie painting (2600rmb) for your living room? Or a Blue Q Tin Bank (99rmb) that says 'I'm saving up to quit my job'? Surely adults can have some fun too in a kids' shop like Ninos! - Stella Shu
