ALA WORLD CUP

Ala World Cup

June 9th, 2010

Every sports bar (and many non-sports bars/clubs ) in town will be broadcasting the World Cup, staring from June 11, but for those of you in Pudong who prefer to watch the games for free in an ourdoor public space, head to Life Hub @ Jinqiao where Ala World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 12.

'Ala' is the Shanghainese word for 'we'. The opening ceremony starts at 7.10pm on June 11, featuring local artists singing World Cup themed songs in Shanghainese. The opening match between South African and Mexico will be broadcast on a giant screen in the Garden Square from 10pm to midnight.

Two matches (Argentina VS Nigeria, 7.30pm-9.30pm; Korea VS Greece, 10pm-midnight) will be broadcast on June 12 and one (Germany VS Australia, 10pm-midnight) on June 13.

In addition, there will be a range of football themed activities in different areas of the Life Hub till the middle of July, such as foosball, goal shooting games, face painting and manicure. Looks like you and your family will have a great time even if you're not a football fan.

Sounds tempting even to Puxi-ers? You can hop on Metro Line 6 and get off at Jinqiao Lu station. The massive Life Hub is right on top of it. - Stella Shu
