60 Seconds: Ferry Corsten
September 23rd, 2008
DJ, producer, and pioneer of trance, Ferry Corsten saved up for his first keyboard by washing cars at home in Rotterdam. He fast progressed to DJing and now Roland come to him when they want a sound bank for their new synthesizer. He’s at Sky Club on Sep 27.
Summer? It’s been a lot of fun. I’ve definitely done a lot of gigs but I also took a number of days off to finish my next artist album. Between travelling, performing, and rushing to the studio to finish my artist album, it’s been busy.
Setlist? I play pretty much the same music in all the countries I go to. But I do notice that some cities or countries like their trance music more melodious while others like it a bit harder.
Stetson? I was asked by U2’s record label in 1999 to remix the track New Year’s Day. They had plans at that time to re-release the record. However, those plans were shelved and the remix was never released. Now with the complete re-mastered edition of War, they finally decided to release both remixes.
Shanghai? I love the Chinese crowd. They are always up for a party. Shanghai is also such a metropolitan city. It’s great that every time I go there I end up playing not only for the Chinese but for a lot of foreigners as well. It’s great to see how music has no boundaries and appeals to people from all cultures.
