Call It Half Price Tuesday!

Call It Half Price Tuesday!

Think today is just another Tuesday? Wrong.

According to Shanghai  Tourism Bureau, 18 tourist attractions in Shanghai are offering a 50% off discount on their entrance fees every Tuesday from February 24 to April 28. You don't have to show any indentification or papers to get the discount - just go there and pay.

Happy Birthday Phreaktion!

Happy Birthday Phreaktion!

Phreaktion, Shanghai's leading drum 'n' bass party, is celebrating its two-year anniversary at bonbon tonight. Here is a short interview with its founder DJ Siesta who introduced drum 'n' bass to the city and has since brought in such big names like Goldie, LTJ Bukem, and Pendulum. She talks about Phreaktion and Shanghai's underground partying scene.

The Beyoncé Experience

The Beyoncé Experience

Apparently The Beyoncé Experience is all about girl power. On this Independent Woman's Shanghai concert on Monday, there were definitely more females than males, and even the males were mostly with their girlfriends. The band were all made of girls, who did a brilliant job on the stage by the way.

Very Important Club

How does Tanghui VIP sound to you? Two now defunct venues Tanghui and VIP Room come back  to life as one, merging underground live music and decadent clubbing experience? Well, that would be a lot of fun, but unfortunately it's not the case.

SFD - Shanghai's Fashion Disasters

People watching is a big hobby of mine. Oh boy, you never know what is waiting for you on your way to work this morning, and that's why I try to carry my camera around all the time. If I fail to do that, my Nokia 6111 always comes in handy. Sometimes, you just got to love those boldly yet badly dressed people. There is certain cuteness in their self-righteous attitude towards fashion, no?

After Room's Afterlife

I called up the PR of After Room Lounge the other day to see how this new venue was doing. Even though I missed their opening one month ago when I was in Hungary, I heard this was a cool place to chill on Maoming Lu (next to the popular Di Shui Dong restaurant).

"I'm sorry, but we are already closed." said she before some hesitating.

Budapest Blessing

Budapest Blessing

Last week around this time, I was stuck in the traffic from Pudong Airport to downtown. Looking out at the heavy clouds, I missed how blue the sky was in Budapest.

Budapest, 12-hours away from Shanghai by flight, was where I spent my two-week holiday. I stayed with my boyfriend's parents, who own a lovely house in the 14th District. For days and days my boyfriend was driving me around in the city, while I took in the view with wide open eyes. We crossed the Danube River at different times of the day: at twilight, in the early afternoon, and late at night...Its beauty never failed to impress me.

Christina - Yummy Mummy-To-Be?

Christina - Yummy Mummy-To-Be?

Those who know me well enough should have no problem guessing where I will be tonight, since I'm a long-time fan of Christina Aguilera, the 'dirrrty' girl who have lately come clean. Before I head for her Shanghai concert, here are two pictures I'd like to share (courtesy of Le Royal Meridien, where the blonde diva is staying). She looks as glam as ever, but the small bump (especially in the second picture with Le Royal Meridien's GM) seems to be saying the rumor of her pregnancy is true... Well, I'll find out more at the concert!

4 Live Fabrique

Don’t bother with a cab ride to Fabrique this weekend - it’s currently closed for renovation from Nov 1st to Nov 10th. And apparently the way it looks won’t be the only change there. Zooma, former co-owner of Tanghui, now takes over as the General Manager and renames this chic nightclub as 4 Live Fabrique. Now it’s safe to assume that there will be a solid line-up of live music acts happening in the future. The reopening of 4 Live Fabrique will be take place on Nov 11th. See you there!

Hello John!

Call me out-of-date, but I’ve always had a thing for progressive house. It’s my favorite music to dance to, along with breaks and electro. So you can imagine I was rather thrilled to meet John Digweed last night, who was the flagwaver for prog music more than one decade ago.

It had a bumpy start though. The interview was scheduled at 9pm in his hotel, but when I got there after our fun-fueled Glam Cham at Moonsha, I was told it had been changed to the club. After yet another cab ride, I finally sat down with Digweed in one of the swanky private rooms at Club G-Spot.
